Where It All Began

Established in 1959, the Raleigh Public Relations Society (RPRS) was created to advance the art and science of public relations while fostering stronger communication and cooperation among its diverse members. Professionals from across Raleigh and the surrounding areas, including those from corporations, nonprofits, government offices, and private firms, joined together to share knowledge and strengthen the local PR community.

Over the years, RPRS held monthly meetings, typically over lunch, offering a platform for members to learn, network, and discuss industry trends, often featuring guest speakers. The society also organized after-work networking events and hosted its prestigious Sir Walter Raleigh Awards for Excellence in Communication, celebrating outstanding achievements in the field. Through these gatherings and initiatives, RPRS became a valuable resource for professional development within Raleigh’s public relations landscape.

Today, our inclusive platform fosters collaboration and knowledge-sharing among experienced leaders, driving the evolution of modern communications forward.

As an experienced leader in the public relations, communications, and marketing fields, you belong here and we can’t wait to connect with you.

At the heart of the Raleigh Public Relations Society lies a commitment to fostering growth, collaboration, and excellence among Raleigh’s experienced PR, communications, and market leaders. We are here to connect working professionals, strengthen leadership, and maximize business impact. Our programming is built upon four foundational pillars:
Relationships, Career, Mentorship, and Scholarship.

Our straightforward membership structure—just $250 per year—offers access to invaluable networking opportunities, professional development resources, and exclusive events designed to elevate your career. We keep it simple so you can focus on what matters most: building connections, sharpening your skills, and making an impact.
