Brief Job Description:

The Digital Content Producer will partner with the North Carolina Museum of History Communications and Marketing team to implement marketing, branding & public relations communication plans – plans to drive awareness to the North Carolina Museum of History and the multitude of exhibits and programs offered annually. The communication strategies will align with the established mission, goals, and objectives of the North Carolina Museum of History. The marketing and communications plan will be tailored to meet the unique needs of the museum visitor, utilizing a “voice” and point of view that resonates within a local, regional, national and international context. The objective of the strategy is to promote the North Carolina Museum of History, its mission and its constantly changing exhibits and programs. This position will align favorably with the public and various stakeholders;and ultimately support museum and program attendance as well as support the museum’s mission and story. This includes developing new strategies and innovative approaches to reach targeted audiences with specific high-impact messages as well as marketing campaigns for specific projects. The marketing strategy and campaigns will be representative of participant demographics, program features, and benefits.

This position will report to the Section Chief of the Communications and Marketing Section and have a line of accountability to the North Carolina Museum of History Deputy Director and the North Carolina Museum of History Division Director.

**This position is deemed eligible for hybrid telework under DNCR’s Telework Policy**

Key Responsibilities:
Duties include but are not limited to:

Digital Strategy Development:
Developing and executing comprehensive digital engagement strategies aligned with overall museum goals.
Staying abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure the museum remains at the forefront of digital innovation.
Social Media Management:
Managing and overseeing all social media accounts, creating engaging content, short-form videos and fostering meaningful interactions.
Analyzing social media metrics to assess the effectiveness of campaigns and adjust strategies accordingly.
Content Creation:
Collaborating with the marketing team to create compelling and shareable content across various digital channels.
Ensuring all content aligns with the brand voice and resonates with the target audience.
Online Community Building:
Fostering and growing online communities related to the museum’s mission or target audience.
Engaging with community members, addressing inquiries, and fostering positive relationships.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
Utilizing analytics tools to track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to digital engagement.
Preparing regular reports, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.

The Communications and Marketing Section collaboratively creates, implements, and maintains over time a comprehensive communications and marketing strategy for the North Carolina Museum of History. The objective of the strategy is to promote the North Carolina Museum of History, its mission, and its rapidly changing exhibitions and programs. The goal is to effectively serve the public by aligning favorably with the public and various stakeholders;and, ultimately support museum, exhibition, and program attendance and engagement. This includes developing new strategies and innovative approaches to reach targeted audiences with specific high-impact messages as well as marketing campaigns for specific projects.

The North Carolina Museum of History is the State’s primary public history institution collecting, preserving, interpreting, and exhibiting history for the general public.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

Qualified candidates must have or be able to:

Demonstrated expertise and experience in the techniques of disseminating information to the public through a variety of communication vehicles, including press releases, e-mails, social media, and PowerPoint.
Documented familiarity with the AP Style Guide or Chicago Manual of Style.
Experience in writing ad copy and possess graphic design skills.
Proven collaborative and communication skills, including extensive influencing skills and abilities.
Strong demonstrated community and colleague relationship-building skills.
Documented ability to craft strategic communications plans and translate those high-level points into actionable tactics and measurable results within a limited budget.
Experience with short-form video on social media.

Management Preference:

A strong work ethic and a team approach are essential.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, public affairs, media journalism, English, or a related field from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in communications, public relations, or publicity work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

This temporary position will be assigned to the NC Wildlife Resources Commission Office of Communications, Marketing and Digital Engagement (CMDE). This position serves as the official videographer of the NCWRC housed within the agency’s CMDE Section. Under the Internal Communications Specialist, the videographer will inspire, develop and implement an engaging video strategy to increase public awareness of NCWRC and its various programs, services and initiatives. This position is responsible for using an array of tools and platforms to create and produce high-quality, engaging wildlife-related videos that can be distributed through a variety of digital outlets from concept to final edit, along with maintaining a video catalog and searchable archive. This position requires creative spark and leadership in video development, production, project management and collaboration.

Job Description: BBB serving Eastern NC is looking for an employee with great organizational, interpersonal and PR skills to help perpetuate the BBB brand through various platforms, programs, and initiatives within BBB’s 33-county service area. The Communications Specialist will assist with asset and campaign creation, establishing and maintaining positive relationships with community organizations, and performing other activities to enhance the presence of BBB within the community.

This position reports to BBB’s Director of Communications.

Responsibilities

  • Help plan, implement and execute both virtual and in-person events and seminars.
  • Create and design graphics for social media use, internal distribution, and relevant campaigns.
  • Write 4-6 press releases per month.
  • Record and edit BBB podcast.
  • Cultivate positive relationships with relevant organizations and community partners. Participate in appropriate community collaborations.
  • Conduct outreach activities designed to create awareness about BBB. Outreach activities include public presentations, participation in community events, and one on one engagement with Accredited Businesses and community stakeholders.
  • Create new programs to better inform specific age demographics about the services BBB has to offer.

This class is the first level in a three-level Communications Series devoted to creating and disseminating visual, digital, written and spoken information about the City. Incumbents provide crisis and emergency public information, and professional communications support to management and elected officials by performing journey-level public information and public affairs work on behalf of the City and or a city department. Work may include handling media inquiries; providing media training; writing or editing news releases; writing scripts; handling citizen inquiries; managing internal and external communications, as assigned; developing communication plans; developing and managing collateral material (brochures, inserts, newsletters); assisting with budget management, as assigned; field producing of video and broadcast events; taking photos; managing on-line content and web pages; managing the City’s social media accounts; participating in meetings and events, as assigned; and serving as on-air or voice talent, as assigned. As assigned, incumbents may serve as lead workers, assigning work and monitoring work completion or may supervise paraprofessional and/or support staff including conducting performance evaluations, coordinating training, and implementing hiring, discipline and termination procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Duties:

Prepares, edits and designs publications and brochures; reviews and verifies style; coordinates and/or builds graphics and layout; captures, takes and/or selects photographs; prepares and gathers content; and coordinates print materials production.
Performs research; gathers and evaluates data and information for communication planning and delivery; monitors and recommends communication opportunities and technologies that align with goals and strategies of assignment; evaluates communications results.
Serves as a department liaison and provides communications support; assists with media inquiries; coordinates departmental response to information requests and inquiries; participates in meetings; facilitates the provision of responses and solutions to customer concerns.
Prepares and coordinates content for news releases, announcements, newsletters, and presentations; edits departmental communications; gathers and edits content; writes articles; prepares speaking points; coordinates and evaluates correspondence, management reports, information released to the media.
Provides website support focusing on community outreach, audience targeting and engagement; plans, creates, monitors and edits web content and campaign communications; coordinates social media communications and selects appropriate platforms.
Identifies, develops, implement and maintains processes and practices that encourage, support and promote effective, comprehensive and meaningful citizen engagement.
Provides event and special project coordination and support of promotional items, communications and related resources.
May provide advice on script, format, layout, design and music for video production.
Researches sources for promotional items; orders materials; maintains files, data, logs, reports, schedules, digital archives and/or documentation.
May serve as lead workers, assigning work and monitoring work completion or may supervise paraprofessional and/or support staff including conducting performance evaluations, coordinating training, and implementing hiring, discipline and termination procedures.
Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

Typical Qualifications
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in public relations, communications, public affairs or directly related field and two years of public communications experience.
OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.
Licensing/Certifications
Valid NC Driver’s License required

Sedentary Work:
Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Working Conditions:
Work is routinely performed in an indoor, office environment.
